Driving into Mexico is usually not a problem. Returning to the United States on the other hand may entail a lengthy wait.
All essential services are within a mile or two from the border. A large parking lot is available at the border with a $2.00 all-day parking.

While we can not guarantee your safety we can provide you with information and safety guidelines that you should practice in all your travels.
1. If possible travel with a companion
2. Dress as casual as possible. It's important to feel comfortable and relaxed during your visit. Flashy jewelry and other signs of opulence not recommended.
3. Develop an itinerary with an estimated time of arrival, appointment time, return, and Dentist office information. Provide a trusted individual a copy of the itinerary.
4. Like any other unfamiliar location, it is best to stay on the main road and avoid any alley and or secluded areas. Be aware of your surroundings.

Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas is a Mexican town in Río Bravo Municipality in the state of Tamaulipas located on the U.S.-Mexican border. The Progreso-Nuevo Progreso International Bridge connects the town with Progreso Lakes, Texas. The 2010 census showed a population of 10,178 inhabitants.

Matamoros and Reynosa both are more industrialized and focused on tourism.
A densely populated, touristy, and festive venue tends to attract more illicit activities.
Nuevo Progreso's tiny community primary focus is healthcare. You will find dozens of Dentist, Doctor's offices, Opticians and pharmacies offering their affordable services to '" Winter Texans ",
and people in search of affordable healthcare. And as in any other community if you limit your activities to the main areas you should minimize any uncertainties.
